So far I’ve been doing good but I have to be honest, some days have been a struggle. Over the years I’ve ordered probably 10 books on how to quit smoking and never had success with any of them. The last one I tried was the Easy Way To Quit by Allan Carr a few years ago. I was really hoping that one would work, especially because you hear about it all the time and all these people seem to have success with it. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me. With that book you basically have to just quit cold turkey and I just never had the “willpower” as they say to do that.
This book was quite different. Even though you are technically quitting cold turkey the author goes into different methods you can use to really help overcome your dependence on nicotine. The Carr book basically tries to get you to understand how bad your smoking habit is and then just quit after finishing the book. He also encourages you to smoke while you’re reading through the book, while this book doesn’t do that at all.
I felt like this book was a complete step by step plan that helped guide me so that I knew exactly what I needed to do to not only quit smoking, but also how to get through nicotine cravings. He offers some really good advice that really made sense and helped. Also I didn’t have to use any gums or patches, which I was afraid of having to do.
BTW, the author is really nice and answered every email I sent him. I wasn’t expecting that because I’m sure he gets a lot of emails every day. But he did, and his extra advice also really helped when I was going through the steps. I can defintely say I recommend this book if you have tried to quit smoking before but never had success with it.

This is the best book I’ve read about quitting smoking. Ive read 2 other books but they just didn’t do it for me. I think one of the reasons this works is because you have to build your own plan using the information. And once you have your plan inplace you have to stay with it. So you have to invest your time and it takes real effort on your part to do it. Knowing the time and effort I put into my plan and doing it helped me stay with it otherwise it’s just a waste of time. The guidelines he gives will also help you stay on your plan. It was actually a very enjoyable thing to go through and it’s exactly what I needed to finally stop smoking.

This is a great book for anyone struggling with cigarettes or any kind of tobacco addiction. If you want to stop or thinking about it, or don’t know how to get started this will help you. I like how the book goes into detail about how to actually treat smoking like an addiction just like other types of addictions. It explains how many people don’t understand what is really needed to break the habit because a lot of people (myself included before reading) perceive smoking to not be as bad as those other addictions, mostly because we see smoking all the time unlike the other types of really bad addictions. The best thing that worked for me out of those products were the patches, but I was still never able to stop smoking 100%. I recently became very ill and while I was talking with my doctor he actually recommended this book. I have been trying to quit smoking on and off for years but always found my way back to cigarettes like most smokers. I almost didn’t even order this book because it looked like a bunch of baloney. Any time I hear claims about quit smoking books or products I usually don’t pay attention because, let’s face it, most of it doesn’t work or might work half the time.
Eventually I decided to give this a go because I thought why not? It took a while though because when I first bought the book I just skimmed over the first few pages and then didn’t open it again for weeks. One day I was sitting at the table smoking and I thought why the hell did I even buy that book and waste the money? Then I looked at the cigarette in my hand and just told myself how stupid it was. I put the cigarette out and immediately went and started reading. It did look like a bunch of work to get started with the program at first but I made myself do it. Actually it wasn’t that bad. The main problem I was torn between wanting to quit and wanting to keep smoking. The thing about this program is you make your own plan using the steps in the book and the key is you have to stick to your plan.
I will never say that quitting smoking is an easy thing to do. Even after completing the steps I still want a cigarette every so often. I use lifesavers to curb the cravings. That’s another thing about this system that I didn’t know about, he teaches you about hand mouth habits and how to deal with them using something other than a cigarette. I have to say, it’s very effective. Anyway I’ve wrote way too much here but whatever. The point is I am glad that my doctor told me about this book and that I eventually used it. It might work for you, it might not, but I certainly would recommend that you try it.
